Harvest Noon is an autonomous largely volunteer-run café offering a variety of affordable, locally-sourced, fair trade, and organic vegan & vegetarian food to UofT students and the broader community. We opened on the second floor of the Graduate Students’ Union building in January 2012 and are a project of the Toronto Sustainable Food Co-operative. (TSFC was itself founded only a year earlier in 2011 by members of the former student group Hot Yam! and other community members). Harvest Noon works to fulfill TSFC’s mandate through our food; community involvement; volunteer led projects; educational and skills-based workshops, events and socials from a broad social justice and environmental justice mandate; and via our participatory co-operative structure. By building relationships, providing spaces for dialogue, and skill-building, we provide opportunities and support for people to work together for social change in the food system and beyond!
