A Harvest Noon Hummus Party! Friday, June 15 @ 4 PM
Harvest Noon may be officially closed this week as we wrap up hiring our new staffpeople, but on Friday we’ll be throwing a special little event dedicated entirely to hummus! We’ll be whipping up a few batches of our super secret super delicious hummus recipes and then gathering together for a chill afternoon snack. Oh and Willie will be making crackers. (And don’t worry, there will also be carrot sticks for the gluten-free folks!) All are welcome, even if you’ve never come to volunteer at Harvest Noon before. It’s a great opportunity to meet some of us and enjoy some great (and free!) food.
Aside from being a delectable time together, this hummus party is serving as an opportunity for us to train new Hummus Maker volunteers—which, by the way, we’re still looking for more of! In case you didn’t see the previous message, Hummus Makers are a special new team of volunteers who will each come in approximately once a week to make a large batch of hummus for the next few days (based on provided recipes). Hummus Makers will still be entitled to a free lunch on the days they come in, like normal volunteers. In addition, the schedule for this role is much more flexible than for regular volunteering, as hummus making need not be done during open hours (and if you come in outside of open hours, your free lunch can still be claimed at some other point).
And if hummus making ain’t your bag, we’re still looking for a few more Food Runners as well! Food Runners will be responsible for heading out to Kensington once a week to purchase needed kitchen items (using the cafe’s money, of course, and based on a running list to be kept at the cafe and updated independently). And the same rules and benefits for Hummus Makers apply to Food Runners.
